Jim needs to get his priorities straight

The U.S. national debt is $14,200,000,000,000 and counting, and the federal budget deficit is $1,300,000,000,000 and counting. Social security, Medicare, and Medicaid are unsustainable with an unfunded liability of $112,000,000,000,000 and counting. Gas is approaching $4 a gallon. There’s turmoil in the Middle East. Thousands have died in Japan, and thousands more are threatened by the nuclear radiation there. Terrorists continue to threaten the U.S. homeland and kill American soldiers.

There are plenty of important issues for Jim Moran to speak out on. So what’s he doing with his time? Crusading against styrofoam cups in the House cafeteria.

Last week, Moran and eight others sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner “express[ing] our deep concern with the current choice to use polystyrene  products, commonly known as “styrofoam,” in the House of Representatives cafeterias.”

It’s probably best not to get into the merits and demerits of styrofoam here. But we can all probably agree that Moran has plenty of better things to do while representing us, not to mention while being paid with our tax dollars.

See the story and the letter here.
